Oh man! Let’s get the ball rolling by just saying that these two were absolutely baller and bad ass from the get go! We met them through one of our good friends in the wedding industry, Anu from Jain Jewelry Network, in Lanham, MD. Anu reached out to us to work on a giveaway as a collaboration with them. Any customer who bought an engagement ring from them (and followed a few rules on Instagram) qualified to receive a complimentary engagement session with Eric. Anu and her father (Palav, the owner) randomly chose a winner, and we couldn’t be happier to have worked with L’Drea and Sabrina!
Fast forward to the night before the engagement session. L’Drea emails asking if we should reschedule, and we respond that we absolutely can, but that rain makes for great photos too (plus gray/overcast skies make great even light), and they decided to keep the appointment. It was magical. There was a little bit of rain at the start, but it held off for most of the shoot. Rain also means you get fewer people in crowded, popular areas, which is always a win. Usually “The Awakening”–the sculpture in the first image of the giant coming out of the ground–is bustling with tourists and locals alike enjoying artist Seward Johnson’s amazing work. On this day, we lucked out and snapped a few shots of just the couple. Pretty cool!
You can tell from the photos that L’Drea and Sabrina have fantastic energy and can really hold a serious pose for a vogue-style portrait. Their loving energy, playful spirit, and baller personalities helped to tie the whole shoot together and create some really cool dramatic shots, along with shots that capture genuine laughter and love. Afterward, we all went to grab a quick drink (well, actually we spent about an hour hanging) at Bond 45. The art-deco, 60s vibe of the restaurant is something quite unique.
We look forward to shooting their wedding in July 2018!
